A Thanksgiving That Came Early

This year, Thanksgiving came early –

not with turkeys, pies, or dressings,

but quiet acts of kindness,

sprinkled softly, were the blessings…✨

Traveling with Russ is never simple,

every step can feel uphill,

yet helpers met us on the journey,

with gentle hearts and steady skill…🤝

TSA moved quickly, during their task to double check,

but treated Russ with courtesy, patience and respect…🫁

When the airport ramp loomed steep before us,

a stranger stopped without a word;

a gentle push and presence –

Random kindness had occurred…🙌

Next, an unexpected helper,

hands so patient, calm, and sure,

lifted Russ with quiet care

and made the transfer feel secure…💛

Our seatmate softened heavy moments,

keeping the conversation light,

even laughing at Russ’ jokes,

throughout our bumpy flight…✈️

The aisle chair assistants offered us so much more,

wheeling Russ from the airplane seat,

all the way to the taxi door…♿

The sweet lady at the front desk,

warm as sunshine on a cold night;

not only checked us in —

but made sure every detail was just right…🌞

After our presentation, compassion followed, like a shadow of grace –

a man called his wife, on how

to manage pain, in Russ’ special case…📞

Looking back, it wasn’t grand –

no fireworks, no sweeping scene;

just tiny threads of human caring

woven strong through everything…🧵

We know this truth by heart:

safety isn’t rules alone –

it’s the kindness people offer

when the struggle’s not their own…💫

It’s a minute when they’re busy,

it’s the patience when they’re tired,

its dignity in small exchanges

that leaves us so inspired…👍

So here’s to every quiet helper

who chose compassion over fear;

you turned challenges into blessings –

and brought Thanksgiving early this year!🍂🤗🍂
