Hey, thanks for clicking! π This is my first blog, and my first entry. I have never blogged before, and am a brand new blogger, who doesn’t know the rules in Bloggland. π«£ Just wanted to reflect on our first presentation of 2023. π Our client was the Phillips 66 oil refinery, in Ferndale, Washington, located about two hours north of us. We had rain on the way up there (Imagine that – in the great northwettest! π€£), but the drive was not bad (although it’s always a little weird driving past the area where he had the fall…π«€) We arrived the night before the presentation, and were able to meet a former client for dinner. π (Never had prime rib mac and cheese before – nummy! ) He also was kind enough to help me put Russ to bed. π (Don’t know why those “wheelchair-accessible” rooms have such danged high beds! π€¨) We watched some Criminal Minds reruns, then I dressed his wounds, emptied his foley,Β and we went to sleep. π΄ Next morning, after a similar routine (gravity was on our side, this time, during the bed to wheelchair transfer! π) we headed to the refinery (stopping at an espresso stand, first, of course! π) It was a beautiful day, and our host met us at the gate, and gave us our passes. (Another former client was allowed to attend, as well! π) We followed the safety director to the tent, where we had our prayer before going in.π There were almost 400 workers, and they had built Russ a stage, so that he could be seen. π The presentation went well (although the first time we asked for questions, there were none, so Russ proceeded to wheel into the crowd, and pick on people…π) After our presentation, we had dozens of individuals come up and shake our hands.π Then we all enjoyed a bratwurst lunch. (The potato salad was exceptional! π) We were able to meet many of the team members, and also ran into quite a few individuals who remembered hearing our message 3, 5, 11, and even 20 years ago! π² After saying our goodbyes, we started to head home, grateful for the speaking opportunity, the new (and old!) friends, the sunny skies, and the beautiful view of Mount Baker…π
2023 A Year In The Life of A Safety Speaker
I just finished reviewing one of the best movies of the year! It was funny, suspenseful, sad, heartwarming, dramatic, and romantic, (It even had a
